Welcome to Your Prenatal Chiropractic Journey: What to Expect at New Beginnings Chiropractic
Pregnancy is a transformative season—beautiful, demanding, and full of change. At New Beginnings Chiropractic, we know that expectant mothers need not only support, but also clarity and confidence in their care. That’s why we created All About That Bump, an eight-part prenatal education series designed to walk you through the essentials of chiropractic care in pregnancy.
Whether you’re listening to the webinar live, watching the emailed replay at your own pace, or catching Dr. Brenda’s blog, this first session is your warm welcome into our practice philosophy—and into a community built just for growing families.
Meeting Your Prenatal Chiropractic Team
Many of our prenatal patients began as wellness or (or even pediatric patients) long before pregnancy. Others find us for the very first time after seeing those two pink lines, or get referred by their trusted birth professionals. No matter where you’re starting from, our goal is the same:
To ensure you feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout your pregnancy and beyond.
At New Beginnings Chiropractic (NBC), we specialize in:
- Prenatal chiropractic care
- Pediatric and family chiropractic
- Preconception chiropractic care
- Nervous system-focused wellness care
You’ll also find:
- A full prenatal resource lending library
- A referral network of doulas, midwives, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, and postpartum specialists
- An infrared sauna (postpartum use), red light therapy (prenatal and postpartum use), rehab and neuro-activity zones, and family-friendly play areas
Our space is intentionally designed so that pregnancy and postpartum are supported and kids are always welcome.
About Dr. Brenda Trudell
Dr. Brenda brings almost 20 years of prenatal and pediatric experience, advanced ICPA certifications in perinatal and pediatric chiropractic, training in breastfeeding, doula background, cranial and neuro-developmental work, and a deep personal passion for family wellness. But her greatest teacher?
Motherhood.
Pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and raising a spirited daughter have reshaped her practice and ignited her commitment to helping families create the healthiest start possible.
What Is Chiropractic—Really?
Although many people associate chiropractic care with back or neck pain, the true focus is on the nervous system. Your brain communicates with the rest of your body through your spinal cord, and spinal and cranial nerves. When joints—especially in the spine or pelvis—aren’t moving well, this can interrupt or distort that communication.
This is called a subluxation:
A misalignment or restriction in a joint that affects mobility, alignment, and neurological function.
Pain may be one symptom… but often subluxations affect the body long before discomfort appears.
Why Subluxations Matter in Pregnancy
Pregnancy naturally changes the biomechanics of your entire structure:
- Increased weight gain
- Forward-tilting pelvis
- A deepening lumbar curve
- Breast changes impacting upper back posture
- Forward head posture and straightening of the cervical spine
- Rising hormone relaxin levels causing ligament laxity
As your body adapts week by week, the likelihood of subluxations increases. When the pelvis, sacrum, cervical or lumbar spine are not moving optimally, this can affect:
- Maternal comfort
- Baby’s position
- Pelvic balance
- Brain-Body communication/nervous system function
- Organ function (lungs, digestion, reflux, bladder)
- Labor progression
This is why prenatal-specific chiropractic training—such as the Webster Technique—is essential for safe and effective care.
How Prenatal Adjustments Differ
Pregnancy adjustments are safe, gentle, specific, and adaptive. We may use:
- Pregnancy pillows or a drop-away belly table
- Side-lying or seated adjusting positions
- Handheld instruments set to light force
- Modified techniques for breast tenderness, placental positioning, or mobility limitations
Each visit changes because each week of pregnancy changes.
Our goal:
Safe, comfortable, and effective adjustments that support both mother and baby.
