How Chiropractic, Infrared Sauna & Red Light Work Together to Boost Immunity

The year is 2025, and you would think by now we would understand the immune system so well that no one even got sick anymore. Colds, flu, COVID, all that should disappear with medical advances, right?

Well, what if the immune system was a little more complicated than that? What if, it was more about taking care of our overall health rather a seasonal medication aimed to control symptoms?

For over 100 years, chiropractors have been talking about the role of the nervous system (brain, cranial nerves, spinal cord and spinal nerves) as the master controller of the body and all of its systems, including the immune system. But it also controls digestive system, hormones, sleep, stress response, respiratory system, circulatory system, ENT/sinuses, healing and more. And many of those other systems impact proper function of the immune system.

It is way more important (and impactful) to focus on the entire body (and mind), rather than compartmentalize and isolate the body into parts and pretend that they don’t all co-exist. Acute or chronic stress? Chronic constipation? Terrible sleep and insomnia? Stuck in fight or flight? Hormones out of control? Diet filled with sugar and processed foods? Overuse of antibiotics and other medications? Each of these things can weaken an immune system to the point that you catch every cold that’s floating around.

What is lacking is a way to help the body function better–brain and body communication. A healthy way to reduce the negative effects of the stress response. A chance to get more hours of quality sleep. A way to detoxify and release garbage stored in our tissues that wears us down. A plan for regular bowel movements. A natural way to balance hormones.

Under regular chiropractic care, the adjustments may help relieve pain and tension, but they really do much more than that. They allow the brain and body, including all the organs and systems, to communicate effectively. To be strong, release toxins, clean house, relax. When our body can function at its best, the chances of getting horribly ill decrease substantially. When our body can better handle stress, we get better sleep. When we get good sleep, we make better food choices. When we make better food choices, we have less inflammation. When we have less inflammation, we have less pain and illness.

You can see how improving function in one area has a major impact on multiple other areas of the body. Chiropractic adjustments have a downstream effect on the entire body, and improve overall function and quality of life. If there was a time of year when I would say it’s most crucial for the entire family to be under regular chiropractic care, it would be the fall. Think of all the things happening– back to school stress (impacts parents and teachers, too), less sunlight (vitamin D), more time indoors (germs), less fresh, in-season produce (vitamins, antioxidants and minerals), the start of “Sugar Holidays” and comfort food (slows digestion and tanks immune system), more time in artificial and blue light (messes up melatonin), postural spinal stress (prolonged sitting at desks, staring at screens, heavy backpacks, sports), time stress (fitting in activities after school, hours of homework, eating on the go). It’s easy to see how the many things we do this time of year make it harder for the nervous system to do its job and properly regulate the rest of the body.

The solution? Get yourself and your family on a solid plan to help reduce nervous system stress, release toxins, and improve sleep, which will have a lasting impact on the rest of the body, especially the nervous system. 1) Regular chiropractic care–each family member gets a customized care plan based on their nervous system scans and exam, designed to reduce nervous system stress and improve brain-body communication, and boost immune system strength. 2) Infrared Sauna Sessions–(for 8 years and older and non-pregnant women), weekly sweat sessions designed to release toxins, relieve stress, relax the mind, improve circulation, open sinuses. 3) Red Light Therapy--(great for all ages) 2-3 times a week helps produce melatonin for optimal sleep, production of ATP for energy production in mitochondria of the cells, relieves pain and inflammation, promotes healing in tissues (joints, collagen, ears, sinuses, throat, lungs).

The combo of these 3 services (or 2) make a huge impact when used on a regular basis from September to April. Try it for yourself and see if you notice a difference in the number of illnesses in the family, number of sick days, shorter illnesses, less severe illnesses.
